Volunteer Opportunities at the Scandinavian Heritage Foundation
Office Assistance
Assist staff and volunteer committees behind the scenes with mailings, computer database entry, special projects, telephone campaigns, or other intermittent clerical needs.
Qualifications: Organized and attentive to detail, work efficiently within a team environment, ability to communicate clearly and effectively with staff and volunteers. Training is provided.
Administrative Assistant
Assist the staff with mailings, filing, telephoning, special projects and event preparation.
Database Maintenance
Computer database entry as needed .
Volunteer/Membership Recruitment
Assist with active community outreach campaigns to recruit new members and volunteers. Projects include filing, membership updates, telephoning, bulk mailings, special projects and event preparation.
Stewardship & Publicity
Join the Stewardship Committee and assist with community outreach, marketing research, telephoning, preparing publicity for mailings, creating and distributing flyers and posters.
Event Assistance
Cook & Eat Manager
Help us present the best lineup of Scandinavian cooking classes in the Northwest. We need a volunteer to manage our Cook & Eat program, where our skilled chefs teach students and members to prepare, then eat, traditional and modern Scandinavian cuisine. The classes are once a month, September through May, the fourth Saturday, 10 am to noon.
Qualifications: love of Nordic food and willingness to ask members and chefs to show their stuff.
Event Volunteer
Help SHF with ongoing and Special events during the week, on evenings and weekends like Nordic Business Council Luncheon, Friday Night Lecture Series, special concerts, lectures and seminars. Volunteers are needed for registration, bartending, set-up and take-down.
Fundraising Events
Join a committee or sign up to volunteer the day of the event. Assist with planning, set-up, staffing and take-down for SHF’s important annual fundraising events: Midsummer (June), ScanFeast (October), and ScanFair (December), and other special activities and events.
