Membership

You are invited to become a member of the Scandinavian Heritage Foundation, an organization for Scandinavian Americans who are interested in the cultures of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway or Sweden. SHF sponsors cultural events, supports Scandinavian language courses at Portland State University and is committed to building a Scandinavian American Cultural Center on its property at 8800 SW Oleson Road.

Members of the Scandinavian Heritage Foundation:

—     Receive the quarterly newsletter with event calendar.

—     Participate in Scandinavian heritage activities.

—     Associate with other persons interested in Scandinavian culture.

—     Be invited to sign up for our weekly email newsletter with event calendar.

—     Support local Scandinavian culture, and Scandinavian language classes at PSU.

Activities cover a broad scope of interests:

—     Midsummer Festival, a summer solstice celebration for the entire community

—     ScanFeast Auction Gala, an elegant evening with dinner, a silent and oral auction,

—     ScanFair, a festive holiday celebration at PSU showcasing traditions of Scandinavia,

—     Annual Meeting reception for the members,

—     Cook & Eat classes where you learn how-to-make and then eat Scandinavian delicacies,

—     Friday Night Lecture Series, free lectures at PSU on topics of interest to Scandinavians,

—     Love Educational Outreach Program, an engaging free series of Scandinavian culture and history presentations offered to grammar schools, nursing homes and youth groups,

—     A wide variety of one time concerts, picnics and special events,

—     Affiliate Scandinavian organizations -- the Scandinavian Genealogical Society, New Sweden Cultural Heritage Society and the ASF Committee -- provide additional programs.



SHF is a philanthropic 501(c)(3) organization, tax ID 93-090-1132. Any amount paid for membership over $20 is tax-deductible. Consider a gift membership for friends and family. It is a gift that gives all year supporting local Scandinavian endeavors.
