b  History of Swedes in Oregon

Swedish Roots in Oregon has worked for years on a book about the lives of the Swedes in the state. Swedish Oregon is almost complete. The book sheds light on the Swedish immigrant experience – which has never been documented in a book previously – by trying to answer: Who were they? Where did they come from? What did they experience? How did their new lives turn out? The book is organized chronologically:

Part I: How did they get here? Three immigration stories

Part II: New Lives in Oregon , 1880 – 1915

Part III: After the Big Wave, 1915 – 2000

It is SRIO’s goal to release this book in October 2008, but the organization needs contributions totaling $6,000 by June 15, 2008 to make this a reality. Swedish Roots is a registered nonprofit 501(c)(3). For mor information, go to  www.swedishrootsinoregon.org.
